Rachel finds out that she's been asked to audition for Funny Girl and Finn is happy for her, but Rachel's happiness is shortlived when Simone and Brody both tell Rachel that Finn kissed Simone. Rachel angrily yells at him and throws her engagement ring at him, storming out of the auditorium and crying over her heartbreak.

Rachel and Finn discuss the matter at Starbucks where Rachel apologizes for her behavior and they makeup. Finn proposes to Rachel again at Starbucks and Rachel accepts again, with the two of them being happy and back on track. Afterward, they all go to Breadstix where Rachel and Finn reveal they plan on getting married. Although Puck is supportive and Quinn is hesitant, Mike and Mercedes are confused, yet Finn and Rachel say it's what they want.
While they speak with Will, Rachel and Finn also meet Marley Rose for the first time, where she reveals she's a fan of them both. After Finn finds out that his father Christopher Hudson is actually alive, he sings all by himself in the auditorium, but when Rachel finds him there, he cries in her arms, the episode ending with Rachel comforting Finn.
Demons Rachel and Finn sit in Rachel's dad's kitchen where Finn tells Rachel everything he found out from his mother. Rachel tries to offer Finn advice about possibly getting to know his father again, but Finn doesn't seem entirely interested. Christopher shows up at Rachel's house where Rachel meets him for the first time, but Finn wants nothing to do with him. Finn becomes overwhelmed, but Rachel assures him she'll be there for him as long as he needs her. Finn and Rachel are later seen helping the New Directions with their dancing for Sectionals and they even ask Mike and Brittany to help them.
On the day of Sectionals, Finn is nowhere to be seen and Rachel worries about him, sending him multiple text messages to ask if he's okay. Little does Rachel know, Finn went to confront Crhistopher and he finds out the hard way that Christopher has a nasty temper.
Finn finds himself in the bathroom with a bruise on his cheek, seeing a text message from Rachel where he cries because for the first time in a while, he feels alone.
At the hospital, Rachel asks Finn what happened and Finn becomes frustrated, eventually telling Rachel the truth and admitting he's scared of his father.
Rachel decides to ask for the Alumni and the New Direction's help where they spend the week singing songs for Finn to get his confidence back, and to let him know he's loved.
Finn feels better after the week is over, but while he and Rachel are making their way to Rachel's house to pack, they're confronted by Christopher. Finn finds himself unable to fight him, but Rachel takes Christopher down while using her purse, threatening him and telling him to leave Finn alone.
The police arrive and arrest Christopher, but Rachel and Burt both try to check if Finn's all right, and Finn once again feels shaken up. Finn, Santana, Kurt and Rachel return home to Lima, and after heeding Burt and Rachel's advice, he decides to make up with his mother, since he now sees why she never told him about his father. Finn suggests that Rachel get a job in order for her to gain experience, and Rachel agrees, with him, Rachel, Santana and Kurt all working at the Spotlight Diner.
Rupert appears unimpressed and Rachel is disappointed. Finn later goes to the theatre where Rupert says he has a Nick Arnstein but Finn is there to vouch on Rachel's behalf. He tells Rupert to give Rachel a chance and that he won't regret giving Rachel a moment of his time. Finn begrudgingly leaves after Rachel lets him know that she's fine, but Rachel sings out to the empty Spotlight Diner, unaware that Rupert is watching.

Later, Finn and Rachel have a late night discussion about Finn being afraid of letting down his team. Rachel let's Finn know he can't the Glee Club down even if he tried. Finn and Rachel, along with Finn Harmonic, perform at Sectionals where they find out they win. Finn basks in the glow of winning Sectionals and getting his own classroom Finn rushes to the hospital where Rachel is awake, but she can't remember anyone or anything--including Finn.
Finn becomes jealous when Rachel remembers everyone around her but him, which causes friction between them. While in Rachel's bedroom, Finn and Rachel argue about Rachel not wanting to remember him and she inadvertly hurts him with her words, which causes Finn to realize Rachel may never come back to him.
He leaves the apartment and goes to NYADA where he tells Blaine that it may be time to break-up with Rachel since she has no intention of wanting to know him. At the same time, Rachel finds Finn's t-shirt in her belongings and the t-shirt helps her remember Finn. Rachel asks Finn to meet her at Starbucks the next morning where Finn realizes Rachel remembers him. Rachel and Finn share a passionate kiss and they head back towards the loft where they make love to one another.
While shopping at the supermarket for a turkey, Finn asks Rachel about the possibility of having children which causes Rachel to listen to his words. Rachel ultimately decides she would lile children one day, but not for another few years and she thanks Finn for getting what he had to say off his chest.
Finn and Rachel are later shown in the loft kitchen preparing the turkey and later enjoying the Thanksgiving dinner. Finn and Rachel get more off their chest--but Rachel receives a phone call from Rupert, revealing Rachel had gotten the role of Fanny Brice. Finn proudly congratulates her and along with Finn and Rachel, the rest of their friends gather in the kitchen to celebrate Rachel getting the role, with Finn and Rachel revealing it was their "best Thanksgiving ever.
The song opens a boy vs. Finn becomes upset with the girls for performing a sexy performance, but Rachel reveals she's upset with Finn for encouraging the war in the first place and she along with the rest of the girls quit the Glee Club due to Finn's sexist nature. Finn and Rachel discuss what happened in Glee Club and Rachel finds out the source of Finn's sexism, telling him that Cassandra has no right to question their intimacy. Finn and Rachel kiss and make up, and Rachel helps Finn get the rest of the girls back to the Glee Club, along with inviting Simone to return.
The entire band meets Elliott Gilbert for the first time, and Rachel immediately becomes smitten with him since he's gay, which causes Finn to become uncomfortable. Kurt instructs Rachel to stop flirting with Elliott in front of Finn and to allow Elliott to perform. Finn and Rachel both are impressed with Elliott but Kurt isn't, which causes tension between Finn and Kurt.
Finn feels uncomfortable with Rachel being on the cheerleading squad, but after he sees a performance with Rachel featured, he supports her decision. Rachel gains confidence and tells Finn the truth while they're at the mall. Finn appreciates Rachel's honesty and Rachel offers to help him find someone else to close the show. However, with Rachel celebrating Christmas, Puck questions it and Rachel reveals it was a compromise she made with Finn. First, he gets Quinn pregnant while she is dating Finn. Following that, he was even involved with Rachel on two separate occasions as well.
Puck may have ultimately ended up with Quinn, but Finn must have always remembered that he was with Rachel as well. But it seems that Rachel Berry is the one that needed the lessons most. During the episode "Laryngitis", Rachel is battling having her tonsils removed when she comes down with a cold.
Naturally, she assumes that the world is going to end and that nothing could be worse. While this does put things into perspective for Rachel, it is one of the most cringeworthy moments of the show.
Following their graduation from high school, Rachel and Finn intend to get married. So instead of getting married, he puts her on a train to New York and does not follow her. His intention was to "set her free" from him so she can pursue her dreams of stardom in New York. Want to know what would have been a better decision? Talking to each other like adults to determine what would have been best. Finn did not need to dramatically send her away-- they could have worked something out together.
Instead, they threw their relationship away and never recovered. In fact, it is possible that Finn is her first serious boyfriend. This could be the explanation for why her attraction tactics are not very good. In an effort to attract Finn, Rachel is desperate to have him notice her over Quinn. In a scene which is often forgotten about, Rachel attempts to force herself to vomit in order to lose weight and appear more attractive to Finn.
Thankfully, Emma Pillsbury stops her and informs her of other ways to be noticed. Considering Rachel's status as a role model during the later seasons, this uncomfortable moment is likely something showrunners would like to forget. While her fashion sense in high-school is described as being dressed by a "blind Sunday school teacher," it is a part of her personality. Her journey of personal growth is commendable, however it causes her to fully forget about her relationship with Finn.
Her new style of dress gives her more confidence, but things go too far when she kisses Brody. Unfortunately, this would be the last time they are together. What makes this moment even more crushing is that Rachel did not even stay with him afterwards. Before Finn wakes up, she sneaks out of the room quietly. However, it seems that all fans of the show wish that this was the moment they would have decided to stay together. Following the events of "I Do", Rachel is seen frantically calculating dates on a calendar before taking a pregnancy test.
While they are both consenting adults before getting together and the timeframe suggests that she was worried about it being Brody's child, she does not inform Finn. With their relationship in a state of fluctuation, a pregnancy would have caused a serious issue-- particularly if it was not his child. While it is unlikely that the baby would have been his anyway, it is strange that he would not be aware what she was going through. A very strange thing about Finn and Rachel is that they each had a level of romance with a staff member of McKinley.
